NEW ORLEANS — National Weather Service New Orleans says their radar is down due to a network issue. The Lake Charles radar is also affected. NWS New Orleans says the National Weather Service in Mobile is backing them up. "We are in constant contact with them if a warning is needed," NWS New Orleans said on social media.

On Monday evening, the KRTX weather radar located in Portland showed a “fairly strong velocity couplet” in the area at the same time the tornado was reported. It’s possible the tornado formed within a strong thunder cell that moved through the coastline.

While the tornado hasn't been confirmed, the NWS said it received reports of a suspected waterspout that made landfall in Rockaway Beach around 9:30 p.m.
